The Maternal Mentor Training Session is for people who've experienced pregnancy and/or have experience within the maternal healthcare field, and would like to volunteer 1-2 hours per month to act as a support system for a person going through pregnancy, who they would be paired with through the Mommy Monitor application. The training to become a Maternal Mentor takes place over 2 days, and is 6 hours on each day. The training curriculum includes basic knowledge of pregnancy related information and recommended antenatal care schedules and pregnancy screenings, midwifery and doula teachings, patient navigation, strategies to address some of the barriers patients may face to accessing antenatal services, and cultural sensitivity and awareness. If you would like to learn how to become a peer mentor and patient navigator for maternal health, this training session is for you! Members of African, Black, and Caribbean communities are encouraged to apply.
